3-Year-Old Son of Rodeo Star Wakes Up After Riding Tractor into River

The 3-year-old son of rodeo star Spencer Wright, who was in critical condition after driving his toy tractor into a Utah river, has woken up.

"LEVI WOKE UP! I am shook, we don't know much but the doctor said it was okay for me to get excited about that and I AM! My baby is so tough!," Wright's wife, Kallie, wrote in a Facebook post just after midnight local time on Friday, May 24.

"He got a little wild so we had to settle him down again but my heart!" she added.

The update came days after the Beaver County Sheriff's Office got a call about the incident on Tuesday, May 21, at approximately 6 p.m. local time, per a statement shared on Facebook

After authorities responded, Levi was quickly located and "life saving measures were administered on scene," police said. He was then transported to Beaver Valley Hospital, and later airlifted to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Wright family friend and spokesperson, Mindy Sue Clark, who has been sharing updates on the boy's health on Facebook, also celebrated the good news.

"MIRACLES!!!!!!!!," she wrote in one message early in the morning of May 24. "ETA - because people have been asking for clarification, he opened his eyes and tried to lift his head. The nurse was in the room and they were telling him how much he loves excavators, and wouldn’t you know it, there he was!"

In another May 24 update, Clark said, "I am in awe of God’s work, and how tough Levi is! These are nothing short of miracles! What an amazing gift to witness this in real time. You’ve got this buddy!!"

In a previous update, loved ones said that Levi’s heart was “beating on its own,” but there was concern as “his sweet little brain was without oxygen [for] too long.”

"We cuddled him all night and feel strongly that his spirit is no longer with us," the post continued, explaining that unless there were any changes, the family would likely have to "stop care and hold him close until his last breath on earth."

However, throughout the ordeal, the family held out hope.

"I do want you to know that we have received multiple small miracles along the way and doctors are certainly surprised by the strides he has made," read an update on Clark's page from his mom posted on Wednesday, May 22.

"We don't know what the future holds, please don't let prayers for my baby dim or his story become old news! Keep praying for him," Kallie added.

Spencer Wright was ranked 35th in the world in 2023 by ProRodeo and was the World Champion in 2014.
