Brian Cox, Brooklynn Prince Bond in New Film (Exclusive)

The world of pigeon racing gets the spotlight in the new coming-of-age movie Little Wing.

PEOPLE has the exclusive first trailer for the Paramount+ film, which stars Emmy winner Brian Cox as a racer of homing pigeons and the teenaged Brooklynn Prince as his unlikely new friend.

As the trailer for the “heartwarming coming-of-age story” shows, Prince plays Kaitlyn, “who is reeling from her parents’ divorce and the pending loss of her home,” per a synopsis.

“She and her best friend hope to solve her mother's financial woes by stealing a valuable bird, but Kaitlyn instead forms a bond with the owner." Cox’s character Jaan, “leads her to a new outlook on life.”

Yellowstone star Kelly Reilly stars as Kaitlyn’s struggling mother Maddie, while Che Tafari plays her fellow classmate and friend.

“I'm in a period of emotional upheaval,” states Prince in the trailer, which shows glimpses of her smashing things with a baseball bat and conspiring to steal a prized homing pigeon.

Cox can be heard telling her, “I was sure my life was a flock of birds and I could feel them flying away. But everything can be all right as long as you’re not alone.”

Produced by media company Awesomeness, Little Wing is directed by Dean Israelite, best known for 2017’s Power Rangers movie, and co-written by Flight screenwriter John Gatins as well as Susan Orlean. The latter wrote the New Yorker article about the real-life phenomenon of pigeon racing that inspired the movie.
